I took a break on cases, and pretty much everything to follow the Olympics! Now I’m trying to get caught back up. I started this last week, and now I have to get caught up on the case that started last week.

I had a doctor’s appointment on Friday, and I waited a half hour, and more time after I went into to the exam room, just for the doctor to come in and say my lab results are fine, and have us both walk out!!! My dad took me to the appointment, because it was last Friday. My caregiver only works Monday through Thursdays now.

Speaking of that whole thing, I got a new caregiver, for the fourth time.​ The previous one was calling out of work once or twice a week. She was taken off my case by the agency staff. Although I did have a part in it, because her calling out was becoming extremely annoying!

I found out what happened to former President Trump last night around 9. I’m glad he’s OK. I still pray for the victims.

Since I was behind on everything that went on over the two days while I was trying to catch up on the trial of Karen Read, who incidentally it looks like may have a hung jury and retrial. I’ve put together some links from the SaiPan hearing that happen late Monday into early Tuesday, because as one Youtube attorney says “time is a construct.” He’s right, and I’m definitely not Familiar with SaiPan’s time zone! OK, I honestly thought I was going to have to rescue my very old PACER account, in my very old legal name, to get this document, but thanks to Stefania Maurizi for posting it! OK OK, I just did a name change last year, and the plea document was giving me a bit of an issue until just now. Kevin Gosztola has covered Julian Assange, and his very long-running case from the beginning. He’s been able to get press access to most of the hearings, accept this last one, of course. He was live streaming during it, though, and provided updates as it was happening. link to Kevin’s stream. I have just finished digesting the plea, and when I’m not so over the entire universe about this whole thing, like maybe sometime next week, I might come back and explain how this hearing worked. We don’t normally do plea and sentencing hearings all in one, and this plea agreement contained provisions for well if crap went wrong! I’ve never actually seen that in any state plea filing I’ve ever read before. We also don’t normally waive the PSI, (pre-sentencing investigation report,) unless both parties ask for it. Yeah it’s something I’ve seen, but both sides have to agree. We did here.

The world failed to reach me for the past two days. Yes, I caught up at 12:00 pacific this morning. I now have officially found out that Julian Assange is free! I got up to get water, and go to the bathroom. I was going to to put something on from my Youtube subscriptions to go back to sleep. In my subscriptions, it said, “Julian Assange finally free.” I couldn’t believe it, and had to go look it up! It’s true, Assange pled guilty to one single count, and the judge in the US district for the Mariana islands, yes this is where they held the hearing this time, determined that an appropriate sentence was time served.
Obviously I’m happy he’s free! However, after 14 years, I wasn’t there to follow the final hearing. the world could not get to me the past two days. I was busy catching up on a case that I’m royally behind on, because it started in the middle of Daybell. I have a local case that I’ll be following in August, so I need to finish this one before that one starts. I also would like to follow the Baldwin thing coming up next month, but that’s completely optional. So yes I’m definitely celebratingg, but I also have a bit of guilt for not seeing things through!!

Yesterday was June 12th, the thirtieth anniversary of Nicole Brown Simpson, and Ron Goldman’s murder. I was 11, when that happened in 1994. Before this, I did not follow many news events if any. I was too busy being a kid.
This case, is what actually changed my interest. I started following trials at 11. After Simpson, I took a long break, only to return to following cases in my adult life.
In 2022, I decided to go back, and revisit the Simpson case. Only because I had not seen a good portion of it. This is because I was in school, and doing things after school. I did so, and what I thought at the time was that everyone presented their cases to the best of their abilities. I found the case to be a complete mess! It isn’t the nicest thing to have to say in this moment. We want to look back and have a happy ending, but the Simpson case doesn’t.
Next year will be the thirtieth anniversary of the trial. There are a whole lot of people who don’t understand it, don’t know about it, haven’t heard of it etc. I’m not sure if I’m going to fix that. However, I’d like to play a small part. Right now, my plan is to blog through the entire trial archive. Not on this domain, a different one. It’s going to be interesting, because there are a lot of things I only saw back in 2022, and then some things I did in fact see both times, and remember doing so. I haven’t logistically worked all this out on how it’s going to look as of yet, but this is my plan so far.

Julian #Assange was granted appeal on grounds related to the first amendment and free expression!! I was praying for this, but it was not something I was expecting! That may be a statement about my faith, but for three years, we’ve had the UK courts not except the defense’s arguments. It’s the best day we’ve had since 2021, when a district court judge said extraditing him would be unfair, because of his mental health.

Julian Assange has his final extradition hearing in London tonight/tomorrow morning. Despite having bad migrains over the weekend, I slept for a few hours, and managed to wake up around a half hour ago, so I’ll be up for the hearing.

O is for OJ Simpson.
Well… so after last week, I decided to put this in. Simpson was my first case. I started following in February 1995, and continued following cases to this day, with quite a long break in between. I did follow the civil trial, but without cameras, that was harder to do back then.
I only got to watch about 30-35% of the case back in 1995, because well… I’m a blind person. OK OK, I know that’s a strange way of putting it. I had to stay after school to do mobility lessons. I won’t talk about that here because it isn’t relevant, but I have a lot to say on why that whole thing mostly didn’t work for me.
I also had to go on a family trip to Hawaii during the trial, and stay at a resort with no TVS in the rooms. Before I found out that slight fact, about the TVS, I wanted to go, after that, not so much. Not at all, actually. I got to go back in 2003, when I wasn’t following a case, and it was much more fun for me!
During the innitial pendency of the case, I was 11, turning 12. Given that fact, and the fact that I only saw around 30-35% of it, or it was a fairly small portion, I decided to go back and revit Simpson. I knew the trial was long, and that it would be quite an undertaking.
I did this in 2022, while following Depp V Heard. That took place in Virginia, which was in the Eastern timezone. After that was over each day, I wasn’t following anything else, so I didn’t have much anything going on after that. It took me 5 months to complete the entire Simpson trial. Breaks were taken out in Court TV’s archive, and in the recorded version I was watching on Youtube, which is surprisingly good quality, but has major gaps. I did not do this straight through. I put the trial on pause to follow a couple 2022 cases. Had I not done that, I probably would’ve gotten through it in 3-4 months.
I won’t talk much about what I found, but the thing was a mess, and it was made that way by both sides. No, the media was not complicit in that one. both sides definitely made it worse by talking to the press, but that’s their choice. I continue to research to this day. We’re very close to the 30th anniversary of June 12th, which is the date the murders happened.
After I found out Simpson died a week ago today, I went to the trial subreddit, and noticed that it was having an influx of users join.
Since 2022, I’ve thought about doing something with the case. It’s my belief that all original court documents need to be released, in both cases. In order to more effectively advocate for this, I’m thinking about blogging through the entire archive next year. This will likely take more than 5 months. In order to more effectively do so, I would set up a domain that I’m not using right now, but when I registered it, I intended to use it for purposes like these..
