Good things for the week of March 16th.

OK I’ll try not to do that again. I looked at my last post date, and it was a month ago, holy crap! I basically skipped the month that Richins, the case I’m following, is in trial, but that’s not really a reason, because I usually post on Sundays, so I have no idea why I did it lol!

  1. my Boundaries class at church! A lot of fun, but also very deep. Thankfully, this one is in the sanctuary, and it’s only six weeks long! No more seminary for me!!!!!!!!!!
  2. The case of Utah Verses Kouri Richins. It’s a very interesting case. I think it’s because Utah is a very interesting state. They tend to let defense attorneys get away with twisting around all over the place with their questions, asking compound ones that are really really long, mischaracterizing everything, and just being rather ridiculous. There were really long arguments that were all for nothing, because the defense never put on a case! That is, until the Judge really doesn’t like the mischaracterizing, etc, then he’ll say something, but otherwise nah. The state couldn’t jump up and object every second either, otherwise the jury would get mad. We did have a whole bunch of objections!! Since the defense didn’t put on a case, Closings will be tomorrow.
  3. Although I had to pay for it, having my computer recovered at Staples. It’s so much easier now that I can task switch back and forth!!!
  4. Completely getting rid of threading in thunderbird. I didn’t have to ditch Thunderbird, if I got rid of that ridiculous thing!!!
  5. Streamers who cover cases, and read filings. .My biggest tip is to find the ones that cover trials and hearings, and read filings. This way, you’ll have the cleanest record of a case. If you just find someone reading from a script about a case to you, you’ll need to go do further research. You can also use a clean feed. I’ll very often use clean feeds! If it’s a filing, there’s no such thing as a clean feed of a filing that I can actually use. A clean feed is a feed without running commentary. Here’s my one big tip and condition for that. If you constantly talk over the testimony without pausing. It’s a no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The reason is, it distracts me, and I can’t concentrate on the testimony, I start to concentrate on what the streamer is saying. If you can hold your thoughts in until you manage to pause the court feed, or until theirs a break, then great, we’re good! So,when I’m in a trial, I do prefer something for reading purposes. If you have the style where you put something on the screen, and don’t ask the witness to read it, Thanks but never thanks to the prosecutor in Richins!!! I would like the commentator to read it for me. However, I don’t need and/or want constant chattyness.

Good things for the week of February 15th.

Yeah, I skipped good things for a while, but I’m back to post them today!

  1. Therapy appointments, especially after getting a new phone, and really having to learn how to use it.
  2. Ditching Thunderbird, because it’s just been a hassle, I can’t stand conversation threading, and as of now, there’s no way to disable it, but not only that, it’s started asking me every time I go to delete an email. Really I just pressed delete, stop asking me if I want to confirm deletion of that message, thanks! So far, I’ve installed Microsoft mail, but if anyone has any accessible alternatives, I’ll take them.
  3. New phones, you might be asking what? It has been an interesting experience, one I put off for way too long, getting to learn the new iPhone, unfortunately I bricked my old one though, so no using it after that. I needed a new phone!

Here’s a slight prayer request, the volunteer who takes me to church told me she’ll be house sitting throughout all of March and April. The church is aware of this, so hopefully they can find a ride for me, if not, it’s back to using rideshare.

Good things for the week of January Fifth.

I’ve decided to start posting something I used to do on Mastodon called Three good things, but I’m going to do more than three, so in a sense keeping a gratitude journal, hopefully weekly, but we’ll see if it’s every week. Not sure if I’ll be able to come up with more than three, but I do have a few for this week! I also have an update, so cue a quick take during the good things! OK, here it goes.

  1. Our Wednesday night service. I wasn’t able to go, but I streamed it for the first time this week! It was a different Pastor who normally does the Sunday services, well actually there are two of them, this was a different guy.
  2. The book, Carrying the Fire. It’s by Michael Collins, and it’s about his mission to the moon, orbitting it while Neal Armstrong, and Buzz Aldrin walked on it.
  3. The fact that when I forgot to show up to my Botox appointment, even though I had like two reminders, I was able to get an Uber. I live in a small town, and Uber won’t give me a driver sometimes, even if it’s an emergency. When I did get someone, the driver wanted to wait for me, this was the second time I had this person, and he waited for me during a previous follow-up. Trust me, I just expect them all to take their rides!!! He ended up getting another ride, so he couldn’t wait, but he was the one that accepted the ride home!!
  4. I’m currently testing two services right now, one is for document reading and remediation, it’s called paper2audio. The other one is for use navigating inaccessible websites, and it’s called Guide. I like to test services on a regular basis, I kind of think I should always be testing, or in other words, explore things like I don’t know them, even if I do. I’m not perfect at this, so I don’t discover new features very fast.
  5. The quick take, is that the state has denied my developmentally disabled services application, they said that since I don’t have an intellectual disability, I don’t qualify.

Quick updates from me.

Just a few quick things from me, because i need to post here more often.

  1. I had an MRI today. My Doctors are trying to determine why I’m losing hearing on one side, and not the other.
  2. I had a yearly routine physical yesterday.
  3. During the Uber trip to the MRI, I think I found a ride to church. The drivers around here offer to transport people privately, as it’s a fairly small town, so a couple of them did so with me.
  4. Next year, I’ll be undertaking at least two blog challenges, if not a third, so prepare for a whole lot more posting!

Quick takes post for Saturday.

Yeah these are usually posted on Friday, but I didn’t get myself over here to do it! Needless to say, you get Seven quick takes on Saturday, and yeah I should’ve done this sooner!

  1. The defense started yesterday in the Read case! They called an expert in vehicle event data.
  2. My rent is going up by quite a bit as of tomorrow.
  3. As a result, I’m taking a break from church. I’m not able to find transportation, and I can’t afford to keep going via Uber.
  4. After Read is over, I need to get back to the Simpson archivals! I really should’ve gotten back to them after the end of my class!!
  5. I’m testing a couple different RSS reader services as of late, as I always am. Feedify,
    and Feedgrab
  6. I want to be on Facebook, but don’t really want to have my family find me on there. I would rather them not track down everything I’m posting, and yell at me about it. I want to make a fake account. I’ve tried this a couple times, but it has failed so far. Facebook thinks I’m impersonating someone when I try to use a different name, that isn’t my own. I’m not impersonating someone, I’m trying to keep the profile private.
  7. I downloaded the book, The Artist’s Way, from Audible. We’ll see where it goes. It’s something I’ve always wanted to read, and/or try.

Quick takes style post.

I haven’t done one of these in a really long while! Well, or ever on this blog lol. There used to be a meme called seven quick takes, where people would list seven random things every Friday. I participated a few times here and there, and I’ve been wanting to do a quick takes-style post here for a while, so I thought I’d do it today. no, no guarantees I’ll get to seven!

  1. Right now, case-wise, I’m following Karen Read! That’s a very strange case, with a whole lot of twists. Yesterday, there was a day-long hearing in the case, that included a motion hearing in another case, because the prosecutor filed the motion in the wrong case, or at least it appears that way. In other words, the motion was filed in the someone elses case, but it related to Karen read. Although it involved trying to get a reporter’s phones, so it was filed in his case, yeah the reporter has a case, don’t ask, it’s Massachusetts!!
  2. I’ve had so many doctor’s appointments lately, that I’ve had to reschedule them for double booking twice, and no, I didn’t do it on purpose!! Last month, I had my semiannual endochrinology appointment, and a neurology follow-up, on the same day! This month, I had a therapy appointment and the rescheduled neurology follow-up on the exact same day!
  3. I’m testing RSS readers again, looking at self-hosting more this time, but I’m open to trying most anything! I did get to try Miniflux, and unfortunately it’s changed to a timeline view.
  4. I’m not a fan of timeline view! I’m more a fan of what I like to call “feeds list” view, but you could call it Google reader view, where it shows you the list of feeds first, then it might show you a few things, but I just want to see a list of feeds.
  5. I’d like to be able to post more infrequent, status-like things here, but the thing is, CP wants me to add a Title, so my literal brain has a bit of a dilemma, do I add a generic one, or do I not add one at all? There is a post format feature, but oddly enough it doesn’t always show up.
  6. After my next two appointments, one at the end of this month, and one next month, I’m pretty sure my therapist is releasing me. There are just a couple more things that I’d like to work on, so I’m thinking I might get into faith-based therapy if I can, or maybe do some online therapy.
  7. Last year, I wanted to archive the Simpson trial for the 30th anniversary. I’ve started that project here, but lately I’ve been lax in the project. I haven’t given up though, and I’m going to keep going, although it will probably slow down even more when Karen Read goes to trial on April 1st.
  8. Bible class was canceled last weekend because of flooding, and this weekend is spring break. We have two weeks off. I’m sure hoping to get to church this weekend, I don’t have a ride as of yet, so I’ll be relying on Uber again.

Well, looks like we had seven and one more! I’m thinking of doing this every-so-often.
